Jiang Zhu

Based in Guangzhou, China, Jiang has been a part-time guide with AlpineBirding since 2019, sharing his deep passion for birds and nature with visitors across China. A lifelong naturalist and enthusiastic birder, he has observed 3,500+ bird species across multiple continents, with extensive guiding experience throughout China, particularly in the southern regions.

Beyond birding, Jiang is an accomplished entomologist specializing in Lepidoptera (butterflies & moths) and certain Coleoptera (beetles) groups in South China. He works at the State Environmental Protection Key Laboratory of Urban Ecological Simulation and Protection and also manages Guangzhou Pan-da Biotechnology Co., Ltd. His taxonomic research has led to the discovery and description of new insect species, published in ZooKeys and Biodiversity Data Journal. He also serves as the Deputy Editor of Indochina Entomologist.

In addition to his expertise in birds and insects, Jiang has a broad knowledge of amphibians, reptiles, and mammals at an intermediate level. His experience extends to natural documentary production, contributing his scientific expertise to media projects focused on wildlife and conservation.

With his diverse field experience, scientific background, and passion for nature, Jiang brings a unique perspective to both birding tours and wildlife research in China and beyond.
